Racing Victoria will re-test cobalt samples from disqualified trainers Danny O'Brien, Mark Kavanagh and Lee and Shannon Hope as a matter of due diligence', according to chairman of stewards Terry Bailey.
The Victorian trainers were disqualified by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board for terms between three and five years after illegal levels of cobalt were found in some of their horses in 2014 and they are challenging the findings at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal from August 1.
"As far as the re-testing is concerned, we don't even believe there's a need to even have to do it, but we're just following due diligence and that's about as much as I can say," Bailey said.
