Dean Wiles is confident of a bold showing from Nova Incanto at Avondale.
The Pukekohe Park trainer has been forced to be patient with the youngster, who will make the second appearance of his career in the first of two NZB Insurance Pearl Series Races on Wednesday's card.
"I expect him to go well – he's a pretty smart horse," Wiles said.
"He pulled up chronically shin sore after his first race so I spelled him and he came back and won a trial, but I wasn't that impressed with him and he went shin sore again so he went back out.
"He won his last trial by 10 lengths and I've finally got him right."
Nova Warrior is raced by the Singapore-based Nova Racing Stable, with whom Wiles has enjoyed a successful association.
"A couple of other horses I had for them, Nova Strike and Nova Warrior, both won their last starts up there," he said.
Wiles, who has 70 horses on his books, has also recently sent two-time juvenile winner Nova Swiss to Singapore.
"I always knew his two-year-old season would be his last here – he's going to have a good future there," he said.
Meanwhile, Wiles is pressing ahead with his impressive Te Awamutu winner Magic Warrior, who was tripped up by the rain-affected going when unplaced in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes.
"He may be sold, but if not he'll go to Ruakaka next - he needs a decent track," he said. – NZ Racing Desk.
