Highly-regarded three-year-old Son Of Maher is preparing for a mid-winter return to racing.
"He's had a couple of gallops, but we'll ease off a bit and then probably have him ready to race at the National meeting," said Michael Pitman, who trains the three-year-old with his son Matthew.
"He looks absolutely fantastic and he's still a colt, but he's still very well behaved so we don't have any concerns on that score."
Son of Maher has won three of his 12 starts, including the Listed Dunedin Guineas, and he finished runner-up to the now Hong Kong-domiciled Dukedom in the G.1 Levin Classic.
"If he comes up really well this time around there is every chance he may go to Australia or we could keep him here for a race like the Coupland's Mile," Pitman said.
"A mile will really suit him and I've got no doubt that as a more mature racehorse he will go further."
Meanwhile, stablemate Enzo's Lad also has a long-term stakes target on his home course.
"We'll get him ready for the Stewards," Pitman said. "He's won both his races at Riccarton."
Enzo's Lad hasn't raced since he finished runner-up behind his talented barn mate First Serve in the autumn and has since been gelded.
Major short course goals will also await Kinagat, who is due back in the stable this week.
"I believe that he is the best sprinter in the South Island," Pitman said.
Purchased out of James Cummings' yard and raced by long-time stable clients Ray and Jill Coupland, Kinagat won at Ellerslie and Ricarton before he was spelled.
"He can race handy and kick off a fast pace – not many horses can do that," Pitman said. – NZ Racing Desk.
