POSITION | HORSE | JOCKEY | COMMENT |
st | D'LARO | Matthew Gillies | It was a super effort. He's as tough as old boots - we skipped away and Sea King with 71kg was always going to struggle to get us. |
nd | SEA KING | Shaun Fannin | He jumped superbly - just the last bit he hung right in which was probably the losing of the race. |
rd | JUST GOT HOME | Richard Cully | He ran a cracker for a little horse with a lot of weight. He probably wasn't that well weighted today but he had every chance and whacked away good. |
th | WEE BISKIT | Matthew Cropp | The track was probably a wee bit firm for her but that will prove as a nice lead up to the Wellington Hurdles. |
th | THENAMESBOND | Steve Pateman | We seemed to be going lightning quick and then leader was the winner. I took a sit and they just kept rolling along - the winner was impressive. |
th | LUCKY TONIGHT | Michael Mitchell | I was very pleased. We have bigger targets insight later in the season so I was happy with the way he finished off. |
th | NANCHO LASS | Charlie Studd | She did everything right in the race, jumped and travelled nice, unfortunately turning in on that dead ground she just couldn't find what she usually does. |
th | SAN PEDRO | Aaron Kuru | He was just running away from the rail. He didn't really handle the ground and may have been a little uncomfortable right handed. He'll be ready for Hawkes Bay. |
th | CANDIDLY | Daniel Miller | He definitely needed the fresh up run. The track was a little dry for us but he will improve a lot from that. |
th | HUNTERS CREEK | Shaun Phelan | He travelled well but just hit the fence down the back straight which just knocked the stuffing out of him. |
th | BACK IN BLACK | Stephen Karnicnik | He was always struggling with the pace of the race. He felt nice coming into the straight but I think he just blew out. |
Last | MASTER MICHAEL | Hamish McNeil | The track was a bit fast for him and we hit a hurdle going down the back straight which just took it out of him. |
