Haunui Farm shuttle sire Showcasing enjoyed a Northern Hemisphere Stakes double in recent days.
After an impressive win in the Gr.2 Sandy Lane Stakes on Saturday, three-year-old filly Quiet Reflection (Showcasing) has been swiftly moved to 7-2 favouritism for the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup on day four of the Royal Ascot Carnival.
A member of Showcasing's second Northern Hemisphere crop, Quiet Reflection was already the winner of the Gr.3 Prix Sigy at Chantilly on her seasonal debut and is quickly making a name for herself as one of Britain's leading sprinting fillies with trainer Karl Burke also considering the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes as a Royal Ascot target.
Meanwhile in France, the Listed Prix Matchem (1800m) was won by three-year-old colt Maximum Aurelius (Showcasing) at Maisons-Laffitte on Monday. The colt scored by one and a half lengths over Fourioso (Footstepsinthesand) with another six lengths back to Pagino (Sholokhov) in third. A Listed winner last year at two, Maximum Aurelius is one of 13 stakes winners for Showcasing, who will stand at $15,000 +GST this season.
Showcasing is currently New Zealand's leading Second Season Sire off the back of securing the 2YO and First Season Sire's titles last season.
"Showcasing has made a remarkable start to his stud career in both hemispheres which is extremely important," said Haunui Farm's Managing Director, Mark Chitty. "He is ticking all the boxes and we are confident he'll continue to do so."
