Cambridge Stud's shuttle stallion Power has enjoyed a strong start to his career in the Northern Hemisphere, siring his first stakes winner on Sunday when son Peace Envoy struck in the Listed Rochestown Stakes (1200m) in Naas in Ireland.

Peace Envoy, trained by Aidan O'Brien for Coolmore, made most of the running to win by half a length from stablemate Lundy, a son of Fastnet Rock.

Peace Envoy is turning into something of a talisman for Power, as he also became his first winner when he scored at Dundalk last month.

Royal Ascot is now on the cards and success at that meeting would see him emulate Power, winner of the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes in 2011.

Power went on to win the Gr.1 National Stakes and the Gr.1 Irish 2,000 Guineas.

The son of Oasis Dream stands will stand at a fee of $8,000 + gst (LFG) at Cambridge Stud this season.

Power has sired 3 winners to date from 11 runners from his Irish crop. He has covered solid books at Cambridge Stud, with 226 mares served in his first 3 seasons at stud, with 2016 expected to be his busiest season at stud after his yearlings were well sought-after at the yearling sales.

"They sold up to $600,000 and he had a Karaka Premier average of $209,000, which is incredible for a horse standing at just $8,000," said Sir Patrick Hogan. – NZ Racing Desk
