Another visit to the central districts is beckoning the smart Cambridge filly Honey Rider.
The two-year-old daughter of Pins was sent out a warm favourite at her Hastings debut earlier this month on the strength of her winning trial form and she had no trouble justifying her support with an impressive first-up victory.
"We're looking at sending her down to Wanganui for the Castletown Stakes," said Murray Baker, who prepares Honey Rider with Andrew Forsman.
"She's done well since her last run and she's a very good filly. Hopefully the track won't be too bad on Saturday."
From the family of the Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winner Viewed, Honey Rider has been one of several juvenile winners for the stable this season.
The younger brigade have been led by Luna Rossa, who claimed the Gr.1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes in April. Her stablemate Saracino finished third in the Awapuni feature after his fifth in the Gr.1 Diamond Stakes.
"They are both out spelling and will be back for the good three-year-old races," Baker said.
Gasoline, who was also third in the Listed Reid & Harrison Slipper, Bonneval and Jon Snow have been other juvenile winners for the stable, who have also had no fewer than seven further individual two-year-old placegetters.
They include the Listed Champagne Stakes runner-up Eleonora.– NZ Racing Desk.
