Windsor Park Stud have joined forces with the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group to stand Mongolian Khan.
The first horse to complete a Group One sweep of the New Zealand and Australian Derbys and the Caulfield Cup, he will begin stage two of his career at the Cambridge nursery.
"Windsor Park are delighted to have purchased 50 percent of the champion racehorse Mongolian Khan from the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group who will retain the other half," stud principal Rodney Schick said.
"Their president Mr Lin Lang is a passionate supporter of the New Zealand racing industry and will be backing Mongolian Khan at stud with a number of high quality broodmares, which he is currently in the process of securing.
"We have enjoyed great success standing Derby winners like High Chaparral and Montjeu at Windsor Park and with his race performance and pedigree we think Mongolian Khan ticks all the right boxes."
The winner of eight of his 17 races and more than $4 million, Mongolian Khan was a champion three-year-old with his exploits earning him the New Zealand Horse of the Year title.
Following his Caulfield Cup victory this season he was accorded a Timeform Rating of 126 with only Winx achieving a higher rating in the 2016 four-year-old category.
"With his speed and ability to run fast sectionals Mongolian Khan ranks with the best racehorses I have trained, as his outstanding record would suggest," said Murray Baker, who trained the entire with Andrew Forsman.
"He's got the looks and was a very sound racehorse, who was blessed with a great action and a beautiful temperament."
Mongolian Khan is a son of Danehill's highest ever rated juvenile Holy Roman Emperor, an internationally successful Group One producer of the Hong Kong Horse of the Year Designs On Rome.
A half-brother to the Gr.1 Wellington Cup winner Young Centaur, Mongolian Khan is out Centaine's daughter Centafit and will stand at $10,000 + GST. – NZ Racing Desk.
