Multiple Group One winner Kawi is likely to spend the early part of the spring at home.
"I'm pretty confident he will end up in Australia at some stage, but looking at the calendar the money there early is no different to the money here," trainer Allan Sharrock said.
"He might run in a couple of the Group Ones at Hastings and then we head off after that."
Kawi has begun a slow build-up toward a likely return to racing in the Gr.2 Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa in August.
