Well-performed winter mare Gesemi will head back to a favourite haunt to make her next appearance.
She is a three time winner at Ellerslie and the five-year-old will return there on June 4 to defend her Cornwall Handicap title.
Gesemi looks to be on the verge of her best form after a bold run for third two starts back in the Gr.2 Travis Stakes followed by a fourth placing in the Gr.3 Rotorua Cup.
"She's never raced at Rotorua before and it's a track that can trip up a lot of horses," said Murray Baker, who trains the five-year-old with Andrew Forsman. "She was battling in the ground there."
Meanwhile, the stable has turned out two of their other well-performed stayers in Maygrove and Saint Emilion.
"Saint Emilion did a great job - he's won seven races this season and not many can do that," Baker said.
The four-year-old was successful in a Rating 75 event at Te Rapa last October and added wins at Matamata, New Plymouth, Otaki, Ellerslie and Te Aroha before he was sent for a deserved break after a defeat of the subsequent Rotorua Cup winner Storming The Tower at Ellerslie last month.
Maygrove enjoyed a solid autumn campaign with a Group Two victory in the Awapuni Gold Cup and he also collected two runner-up finishes and ran fourth in the Gr.3 Canterbury Gold Cup. – NZ Racing Desk.
