Cambridge trainer Tony Pike will be chasing his second Queensland win for the week when his Gr.1 New Zealand Derby hero Rangipo lines up in Saturday's Gr.3 Fred Best Classic at Doomben.
Stablemate and Gr.1 Queensland Oaks hopeful Provocative was successful at Ipswich on Wednesday and Rangipo will attempt to follow suit on Saturday.
"He doesn't really stay, but at the time of the Derby he was just in great form and very fit," Pike said.
"He should be okay fresh at 1350m in the Fred Best, but he will be a lot better once he hits the Queensland Guineas at a mile."
