Danica Guy was pleased to see the addition of headgear on her former charge Gaultier.

The Matamata horsewoman was a part-owner and trainer of last season's Gr.1 Levin Classic winner, who was subsequently sold to Hong Kong and, as Simply Invincible, won his first race in his sixth start for David Hall at Sha Tin on Sunday.

"He's been unlucky up there, but the blinkers made all the difference and I'm really happy for the horse," Guy said.

"He was always on and off the bridle in his races here and that's why we had the blinkers on him."

Simply Invincible is a son of Rios and Guy will head south to Hastings on Thursday with two more of the stallion's progeny.

Trigger will make a fresh start in the Syngenta Crop Protection 1300 while Marykate will also kick off a new preparation in the Adam 3YO Maiden.

"Trigger is a physically different animal this time, he's a lot stronger and he trialled really well," Guy said.

"We've had trouble getting him to settle, but he did at the trials the other day and if he runs up to that form then he should be super competitive."

Trigger won his open heat at Cambridge where he beat the subsequent Listed Rotorua Stakes winner Illuminati.

"Marykate is a nice filly who tries really hard and he will enjoy the 1400 metres at Hastings," Guy said. – NZ Racing Desk.
