Melbourne mare Azkadellia will be among the first horses to test the new Eagle Farm surface when a set of barrier trials are conducted on Thursday.

Azkadellia, due to run in the Doomben 10,000 on Saturday week, will line up in a 1000m trial against the likes of Sir Moments, Traveston Girl and Sagaronne.

The Brisbane Racing Club are running five heats on the new track, which is being readied for a return on June 4 for the Queensland Oaks program.

The trials will be conducted like mock races, starting at 1.33pm in the afternoon and open to the public.

They are being used to not only test the surface but the entire facility, which has been given a $22 million upgrade.

Eagle Farm, Brisbane's premier venue, has been under construction since January 2015.

Azkadellia is on a path towards the Stradbroke Handicap, run at Eagle Farm on June 11.

Ciaron Maher will use the Group 1 Doomben 10,000, run at Doomben on May 28, to have her in prime condition for the Stradbroke.

Azkadellia travelled to Brisbane immediately after her win in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Randwick on April 9.

CrownBet have Azkadellia a $4.60 favourite for the Stradbroke Handicap, with Black Heart Bart on the second line of betting at $6.50. -racing.com
