Kevin and Pam Hughes will present three good prospects at Ashburton on Friday to continue the stable's good run of form.
Hot off a home track double last weekend with Bonaparte and Double Blue, they have confidence in the prospects of Nancy (Ashburton Raceway Function Centre Maiden), Odabella (RD Petroleum Handicap) and Gottagetmywoohoo (Speights Ale House Handicap).
A half-sister by Raise The Flag to the dual Group Three winner Inferno, Nancy finished a strong third on debut over a middle distance at Timaru and she is expected to be particularly hard to beat.
"She has improved a lot and I would be disappointed if she didn't win," Kevin Hughes said.
"She's got a great pedigree and down the track we'll be looking to get some black type for her- she would be worth a fair bit of money."
Odabella is also ticking over well and ready to excel on the right underfoot conditions.
"She's just waiting for a shower of rain, she's a big, heavy mare and she feels the ground a bit," Hughes said.
"She hasn't got a big sprint and just grinds away. We've put Alfred Chan on with three kilos off and she has been working tremendously well."
Gottagetmywoohoo will resume after a lengthy break and he was a trial winner earlier this week.
"He's another who has been waiting for the tracks to soften," Hughes said. "He's strengthened up a lot and he's well, he also looks like he's turned the corner mentally." – NZ Racing Desk.
