Rich Hill Stud's first season sire Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park) has made a terrific start in Australia where 40% of his runners have been winners.
That's double the percentage of winners from runners of Australia's leading first season sire Love Conquers All.
Of the 43 first season sires to have had runners in Australia this season 44% have produced winners and just 28% have produced multiple winners including Jimmy Choux who has produced a pair of winners from just five runners.
The John Sargent-trained Echappe opened the 2010-11 New Zealand Horse of the Year's account in Australia with a win at Bathurst in February. While the Mick Price-trained Heptagon hinted at a bright future with an impressive win at Ballarat in March.
At home in New Zealand, Jimmy Choux has already made a splash in black-type waters having produced Gr.3 Eclipse Stakes winner Manolo Blahniq, now trained in Australia by Tony Noonan, and dual stakes performer What Choux Want.
Buyers will have ample opportunity to get their hands on the young sire's progeny at next week's New Zealand Bloodstock's National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale at Karaka where he is represented by ten weanlings and as the covering sire of four mares.
