Safety concerns after heavy morning rain on a firm Hawera surface forced the abandonment of Thursday's Egmont Racing Club meeting.
"We inspected the track and it became apparent that everybody had some concerns about the state of it," stipendiary steward Gavin Whiterod said.
"Obviously we didn't know how it would play and at the end of the day there was doubt and we had no alternative but to call it off in the interest of safety. Unfortunately for the club and everyone concerned the weather has played against us."
