Trainer Darren Weir has Group One racing in mind for three-year-old colt Rageese following his scorching four and a quarter length victory in the Listed H C Nitschke Stakes in Adelaide on Saturday.

The son of Street Cry, rated equal fourth best 2YO in Australia last season, was winning back-to-back races for his owners Windsor Park Stud and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and Weir thinks the improving colt will be ideally suited in Group One races like the Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke Handicap.
"Rageese is very talented and going great guns", commented Weir.
"If he continues to progress, races like the Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke at the Brisbane Carnival look suitable targets for him".
Rageese had just three runs as a two year old last season finishing second to Coolmore Stud's highly regarded stallion Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) in the Gr.1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes as well as filling the runner up position in the Gr.2 ATC Pago Pago Stakes.
After winning over 1350m at his second three year old start this season, Rageese ran fourth in the Gr. 1 ATC Golden Rose Stakes to Exosphere and third to leading three year old Press Statement in the Gr. 2 ATC Stan Fox Stakes before closing out his campaign at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival with a fifth placed performance in the Gr.1 MRC Caulfield Guineas.
Rageese, who is a direct descendant of the champion racemare and Australian Horse Of The Year Emancipation, becomes the 102nd stakes winner for his sire Street Cry (Machiavellian) who currently leads the Australian Sires' Premiership and whose Cox Plate-winning daughter Winx swept all before her at the recent Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
