Lewis Caroll has overcome a series of niggling problems and will attempt to extend his unbeaten sequence at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Trainer Ngaire Fraser had originally considered tackling the Gr.3 Inglis Sales Cambridge Breeders' Stakes with Lewis Caroll, but has opted for the Maneline Cambridge Premier, a Rating 75 1200 metre race, because of the minor setbacks.

"He hasn't raced for three months and he's stepping up in grade so it won't be easy for him," said Fraser. "It's a good field, but I'm happy with him."

Lewis Caroll has been impressive in his two wins, over 1100 metres at New Plymouth last December, and 1200 metres at Matamata, and as a result he was under offer to be sold to Hong Kong.

"He filled the new criteria for Hong Kong but failed the vet," said Fraser. "It wasn't anything major.

"That was a bit dragged out then he got a snotty nose and a girth rash, silly little things that just put him back a bit. There was no point racing him when he wasn't right."

Leading apprentice Shaun McKay was aboard Lewis Caroll in his two wins and will again have the ride on Saturday.
