A trials win at Te Teko on Tuesday has guaranteed Sacred Elixir his place on the flight to Queensland on Sunday.

The Pour Moi gelding won the first of the two-year-old heats over 1020 metres and impressed rider Leith Innes.

"I wasn't there, but Leith gave him a good report," said trainer Tony Pike. "He sat back and took him out to the centre of the track and the horse won well.

"It was a handy trials field and he ran a good time. He'll head out to Brisbane on Sunday."

Sacred Elixir will make his Australian debut in an open two-year-old event over 1400 metres at Caloundra on May 11.

"We'll decide after that whether he runs in the Sires Produce Stakes and the J.J. Atkins or goes straight into the J.J. Atkins," said Pike.

Sacred Elixir has had a win and a second from his three starts with his most recent race being the Karaka Million, in which he finished sixth.
