Haunui Farm stallion Showcasing (Oasis Dream) sired his first Classic-winner on the weekend with three-year-old filly Conselice a dominant winner of the Premio Regina Elena (Italian 1000 Guineas) in Rome on Saturday.

Saturday's victory continues a purple patch of form from Showcasing's Northern Hemisphere three-year-olds with three Group winners in the last fortnight. Quiet Reflection got the ball rolling on April 10th when winning the Gr.3 Prix Sigy (1200m) at Chantilly and last weekend, Tasleet took out the Gr.3 Greenham Stakes over 1400m sticking his hand up for a possible Irish Guineas assault.
On the home front, Showcasing continues to lead the second season sires race and added to his tally with the dominant performance of three-year-old Bonaparte at Riccarton on Saturday.
Showcasing's first crop statistics in the Southern Hemisphere see him with a total of 30 winners from 55 starters equating to a winners to runners ratio of 55% from that crop.
"There are some exciting young stallions in New Zealand that are starting to make a mark for themselves and Showcasing is at the top of that tree in terms of the second season sires," says Haunui Farm's Mark Chitty.
"He has the most winners and the most stakes performers – two important barometers for success – and he is proving his progeny can train on, the fact he is the leading second season sire is proof of that.
Not only has he left a Karaka Million-winner from his first crop (Hardline) and a Karaka Million runner-up from his second (Showmeyamoneyhoney), but Showcasing has also left a Derby place-getter in Raghu who along with Australian stakes-performer Cylinder Beach, will be taking aim at the major three-year-old contests during the Queensland Carnival," said Chitty.
"And what is even better for us is that Showcasing is replicating his success in both hemispheres and with the international nature of our industry, that's extremely important."
Showcasing stands at Haunui Farm in 2016 for a fee of $15,000 + GST and will serve a strictly limited book of 125 mares.
