Waikato Stud today announced their stud fees would remain unchanged in 2016.
"We have had enquiry as to what Savabeel's fee would go up to, but we feel it was fair to leave it at $100,000 plus GST, LFG," explained studmaster Mark Chittick.
"Savabeel has had another massive year.
"Off the back of six individual Group One winners last season - which was double that of any other sire in Australasia - he has excelled at the top level this season with son Kawi, who won three Group One contests and with daughter Lucia Valentina, who added the third Group One win of her career in Australia's $4 million Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes. In addition to this pair, he has also been responsible for seven other stakes winners.
Befitting of this and of the two stallion awards collected last season, Savabeel is New Zealand's leading sire in the Sale ring, with Karaka Premier yearlings averaging $256,555 and selling up to $825,000 earlier this year.
"With the number of bookings that is required by the Savabeel syndicate, there is a limitation to outside mares that will be taken," cautioned Chittick.
Whilst the stud's dual Doncaster hero, Sacred Falls', fee of $30,000 plus GST, LFG, might have remained the same, it is clear that change is very much at the forefront of Chittick's thoughts regarding the four-time Group One winner.
"Like we've all seen before, Sacred Falls has developed massively after his first year at stud. For those who saw him this time last year, I can tell you he is well worth coming back and seeing," he said.
"Sacred Falls heads into his second year off the back of an extremely solid first year, where he was very well supported. His first foals hit the ground in 2016 and we eagerly await their arrival."
Likewise standing at $30,000 plus GST, LFG, the five-time Group One winning Cox Plate legend Ocean Park has been strongly received by the market.
"His first ever K1 yearlings averaged nearly five times his service fee and have gone to some of the best homes in Australasia. He's an exciting stallion and is very much following in the footsteps of our fellow Cox Plate winner Savabeel."
The stud's senior statesman Pins continues to be incredible value at $25,000 plus GST, LFG.
"Pins is getting into his twilight years now. We are so proud of the champions and topliners that he has left and continues to do so," said Chittick of the 11-time Group One producer.
"This season he's had the six stakes winners, with the best of these being Aerovelocity, who is currently rated as the second best sprinter on turf in the World."
Relative new boy on the block, Rock N Pop, will stand for $9000 plus GST, LFG – a fee Chittick can see changing down the line.
"He remains the same this season but I am very confident that this will be his last year at this fee," said Chittick.
"We expected him to breed great types, but he has exceeded our expectations. This was shown by the consistent results at the Karaka, where his yearlings averaged nearly five times his service fee and sold up to $200,000."
The stud's Group One producing smokey Rios rounds out the renowned line-up at a service fee of $4000 GST, LFG.
"He's already had the Group One winner in Gaultier and the early signs from his Asia-sold progeny are encouraging. He is a stallion that can serve all sorts of mares and achieve progeny that are in strong demand, particularly as tried horses," said Chittick.
