Group One winner Platinum Witness (California Dane) will chase further black-type success in Monday's Listed Manawatu ITM Anzac Mile at Awapuni.
Palmerston North trainer Lisa Latta was prepared to forgive the 1000 Guineas winner's first-up failure at Te Aroha earlier this month and has since sent the California Dane four-year-old mare to the Waverley trials on Tuesday, where she finished second.
"She just proved she doesn't go right-handed at Te Aroha and I can't fault her condition. Her best form has been on off tracks so we're hoping for a bit of rain over the weekend," Latta said.
As a winner of five of her 21 starts and placed in the Gr.1 Windsor Park Plate (1600m) under weight-for-age conditions at Trentham earlier this season, Platinum Witness looks well-placed in the Anzac Mile under her 55kg handicap.
