Ruakaka trainers Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs are keen to use an exhibition gallop at Avondale next Monday as part of the Queensland preparation for Volkstok'n'barrell.
"He's done extremely well since he came back from Sydney and I'd like to get an exhibition gallop into him," said Logan. "Hopefully the Avondale Club will agree to it."
Volkstok'n'barrell made a hit-and-run bid on the Gr.1 Doncaster Mile in Sydney earlier this month after winning the Gr.1 New Zealand Stakes at Ellerslie and, though he finished 10th (nine and a half lengths behind stylish winner Winx), his connections are keen to try their luck in Queensland.
"He's booked to go over on May 1 and will start in the Hollindale Cup on the seventh," said Logan. "Blake Shinn will ride him. We'll decide after that race what he will run in. If he goes well there's the Doomben Cup."
