Australian Oaks winner Sofia Rosa, Valley Girl and Capella returned to New Zealand on Tuesday morning and are on the mend after suffering an overdose of a pre-flight insect spray.

All three are to have well-earned spells before being set for spring assignments.

"Valley Girl is back at Wentwood Grange and so far, so good," said co-trainer Donna Logan. "She was the only one of the three who really suffered colic-like symptoms. She wanted to get down and it was a real worry."

Valley Girl beat the older horses in the Gr.1 Herbie Dyke Stakes and finished second in the Gr.1 Vinery Stud Stakes before her sixth in the Australian Oaks.

She was also third in the Gr.2 Eight Carat Classic and fifth in both the Gr.1 NZ Derby and Gr.2 Royal Stakes.

"There are so many opportunities for her next season," said Logan. "She's a big filly with a lot of improvement."
