The Dennis brothers, Tony, Ray, Martin and Joe, have announced the retirement of their multiple stakes winning mare The Diamond One.
The daughter of Tale of the Cat out of The Jewel retires as the winner of eight races including three editions of the Gr.3 White Robe Lodge Handicap, a Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes and the Listed Eclipse Stakes.
Originally trained by the Steve Anderton, The Diamond One captured the hearts of the racing public when she won her second White Robe Lodge Handicap just three days after her trainer's tragic death. Steve's wife Claire continued to train the mare to a further win in the Wingatui feature as well as a win in the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes at Trentham.
"It was nice to get up to Wellington and win one in the North Island but those White Robes, after Steve dying, that was quite emotional, and even the last one," said Tony Dennis.
