Star jockey James McDonald is enjoying a week of rest and relaxation at home in New Zealand to recharge the batteries ahead of a busy international schedule.
"I'm heading to Hong Kong next week and then obviously we've got a busy time with horses heading towards the Queensland Winter Carnival, so there's not much time for a break," McDonald said.
"I'll also head to the UK to ride for Godolphin at Royal Ascot and then after that I am going to ride in France for a month. I've never been to France before and I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully I can ride a couple of winners."
McDonald comfortably leads the Sydney Jockeys' Premiership, 24 wins in advance of nearest rival Hugh Bowman. He is keen to ride as many winners as possible to extend his lead prior to his departure to Europe at the beginning of June.
