James Bridge's successful association with Mackintosh has come to an end and he's now looking to other younger members of his team to fly the stable flag.
The Byerley Park horseman prepared the Pins gelding, who he raced with his father John, to win races at Te Aroha and Ellerslie before his sale.
As part of the deal, Mackintosh had one further start – an unsuccessful one in the Gr.1 Randwick Guineas – in Bridge's name and the three-year-old is now in the yard of the champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller.
The accent is on youth in Bridge's stable with two of them, Lady Conraad and Costa Bravo, to step out at Friday's Dargaville meeting.
Northern Hotel 1200 contender Lady Conraad has been lightly-tried and the Volksraad filly broke her maiden at Avondale last time out at her fourth appearance.
Out of a sister to the well-performed southern sprinter King Montrose, she had drawn well and will be ridden by the in-form Danielle Johnson.
"She was pretty good last time and she's done well since," Bridge said.
The well-bred Costa Bravo, to be ridden by Michael McNab, will have a wide gate to overcome in the CA Motorcycles 1400 following a sound enough effort when resuming at Avondale last month.
He is by Encosta de Lago out of Moti, a three-time Australian stakes winner.
"He's a nice horse who just hasn't put it all together yet," Bridge said. "He'll probably have this run and then go out for a break and come back for the spring. He's an out and out stayer."
By contrast, the unraced juvenile Mystery Show is showing plenty of early dash.
"She's won three trials on the trot and she may have a run at Avondale on the 25th," Bridge said. "She's by Sakhee's Secret and she's a direct descendant of Show Gate." - NZ Racing Desk.
