The return to the winners circle by Street Cry's son Rageese in Melbourne at the weekend was welcomed by leading New Zealand stud farm Windsor Park Stud, who recently bought fifty per cent ownership in the impressive three-year-old colt.
Fourth-equal highest rated 2YO in Australia last season, the Darren Weir-trained Rageese carried top-weight of 60kg's in Saturday's 1300m event to defeat a field that included other Group winning and Group performed three year old's.
"We're delighted to see Rageese win under those conditions in that style", commented Windsor Park owner Rodney Schick.
"Being among Australia's leading 2YO's last season we were in no doubt as to his level of talent however it is still important for his future at stud to see that ability confirmed as a three year old".
Bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, who races the colt together with Windsor Park Stud, Rageese had just three runs as a two year old last season finishing second to Coolmore Stud's highly regarded stallion aquisition Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) in the Gr.1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes as well as filling the runner up position in the Gr.2 ATC Pago Pago Stakes.
After winning over 1350m at his second three year old start this season, Rageese ran fourth in the Gr. 1 ATC Golden Rose Stakes to Exosphere and followed that run with third to leading three year old Press Statement in the Gr. 2 ATC Stan Fox Stakes before closing out his campaign at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival with a fifth placed performance in the Gr.1 MRC Caulfield Guineas.
Rageese, who is a direct descendant of the champion racemare and Australian Horse Of The Year Emancipation, will now be aimed towards three-year-old Group races at the upcoming Brisbane Racing Carnival.
