Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young are lining up for another crack at a Sydney Group One title.
The Australian Derby-winning trainers have Tavago's stablemate Sicario set for the Champagne Stakes at Randwick on Saturday with Kerrin McEvoy engaged for the ride.
"The horse is booked on a flight tomorrow (Wednesday) night and at this stage he is more than likely to be going over," Busuttin said.
"We're under no illusions about the massive jump in class. It's a fact that New Zealand two-year-old form is inferior to Australian form, probably anywhere in the world is inferior, but the reality is that he was booked to go over there with us anyway."
Busuttin and Young will relocate their training operation to Cranbourne in July.
"He can run in Sydney for $500,000 and win, lose or draw he will be spelled over there and then we can get him ready for the spring in Melbourne," Busuttin said.
"If the filly (Yankee Rose) turns up she'll be winning, but with two-year-olds you never really know and we've got nothing to lose.
"If he stayed here to run at Ellerslie there's the strong possibility of another wet track and that's not ideal for this horse."
A first crop son of Bullbars, Sicario finished runner-up on debut at Matamata after racing three wide without cover and he then finished a close second in the Gr.1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes. – NZ Racing Desk.
