The Cambridge training partnership of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman have a potential star on their hands in the form of unbeaten filly Let Me Roar.

A half-sister to the Gr.1 VRC Derby winner Lion Tamer, Let Me Roar cruised to a six-length victory at Pukekohe on Sunday over 1200m in the slick time of 1.08.45.

"She's a very exciting horse," Forsman said. "We're just lucky to have been given the chance to train her.

"Hopefully she comes through it alright and we can push on."

The Gr.3 Inglis Sales Cambridge Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Te Rapa on April 30 is the immediate target for Let Me Roar where she is likely to clash with boom colt Xtravagant.

"She's a well bred filly and any black type we can get will enhance her value tremendously," Forsman added.

Like other members of the family, Let Me Roar has some stubborn traits, but was noticeably better behaved at Pukekohe on Sunday than her previous win at Rotorua.

Carrying the colours of Windsor Park Stud, Let Me Roar is a daughter of Champion European Miler Rip Van Winkle and winning rider Matthew Cameron believes the filly will get over ground in future.

"She's got a beautiful stride and she's a horse that is going to get over further because she does relax nicely," Cameron said.

"She's a brilliant horse. She ran quick time and did it on her ear." – NZ Racing Desk
