An invite to compete in the Great Northern Steeplechase hasn't been enough to extend the racing career of Bashboy.
The offer was extended by the Auckland Racing Club to the connections of the champion Australian jumper, who faces mandatory retirement under Victorian rules of racing when he turns 13 in August.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, Bashboy won three Australian Grand Nationals and four Crisp Steeplechases and managing owner Ian McDonald said not being able to compete in those races again had taken the gloss of 'putting him back in the ring.'
