Risque ready to vindicate Hayes

David Hayes said Risque's (NZ) (Darci Brahma) last start in the Vinery Stud Stakes was a forgive run, as she looks to vindicate the Hall of Fame trainer in The Coolmore Legacy Stakes (1600m) on Saturday.

Hayes tipped former NZ filly Risque to be a Group 1 winner in Australia prior to her first run here - which was a G3 victory at Caulfield - having come off a win in the G1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton in November.

Risque was a gallant third in the G1 Australian Guineas (1600m), beaten just over half-a-length by Palentino, before her second bid at the highest level in Australia saw her finish 3.7 lengths back from Single Gaze in the Vinery Stud at Rosehill.

Hayes said the Darci Brahma filly had an excuse from that run over 2000m, as she prepares to step back to the mile trip - and is rated a $9.50 chance with CrownBet.

"You've got to forgive her run in the Vinery. She pulled up with a foot [issue]," Hayes said in Lindsay Park's stable update.

"And she'll saddle up a different filly this week.

"I can assure punters that her action's been perfect all week." -racing.com
