Adrenaline Rush is on a warning and sharp improvement is required for him to keep his place in the stable.
The five-year-old has been disappointing this preparation, but his work ahead of Friday's Rotorua meeting has given trainer Stephen Ralph cause for encouragement.
"He just hasn't come up and he's on the cull list, we can't make too many more excuses for him," he said.
"He hasn't been that far away, but he has been too soft in his races over the last two or three hundred metres.
"We've mixed his training up a bit and his gallop on Tuesday morning was the best he's given us this year."
Adrenaline Rush has won four races and while he has handled rain-affected going in the past, Ralph said the five-year-old preferred better footing.
"We would like the track to improve, that would be his only excuse as he is better on top of the ground," he said.
Adrenaline Rush will also benefit from an inside gate and Zinjete Moki's three kilo claim in the Van Dyk Rotorua 1215. – NZ Racing Desk.
