Last-start winners Cinematic and Untamed Diamond are likely to go head to head in the near future.

The Pukekohe Park stablemates are following similar programmes which are almost certain to see them clash in next month's Gr.3 Inglis Sales Cambridge Breeders' Stakes at Te Rapa.

"Cinematic was very promising as a two-year-old and was stakes placed before she injured her foot and we had to put her out," trainer Richard Collett said.

"She's come back really well this season – she's still learning and she's getting stronger."

Runner-up to Windborne in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes last term, Cinematic broke her maiden in her three-year-old debut at Avondale prior to Christmas.

She was then out of the money from a wide gate at Te Rapa and placed at Ruakaka before she was back in winning form last time out at Ellerslie.

"The main aim is the Cambridge Breeders' Stakes and there's a three-year-old race a fortnight before that for her and Untamed Diamond will probably be following a similar path," Collett said.

"We had planned to run her first in the Mr Tiz Trophy, but she got an abscess in her heel."

Untamed Diamond has won three of her nine starts and in two previous cracks at black type she finished fifth in last season's Gr.2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes and fourth in the Listed Soliloquy Stakes in November.

She has only been out twice since, failing at Ellerslie after being caught three wide without cover and she then bounced back to beat the Group One-placed colt Rocanto over 1200 metres at Trentham in January. – NZ Racing Desk.
