Anthony Cummings was the last trainer to produce a three-year-old winner of the $A1.5 million Gr.1 The BMW and he's seriously thinking about trying for a repeat result.
Successful in 2013 with Fiveandahalfstar, he has nominated the New Zealand-bred Montaigne for Saturday's feature.
The son of Road To Rock finished runner-up to Tarzino in the Gr.1 Rosehill Guineas last weekend and Cummings has already booked Damien Oliver for the ride, should the gelding back up.
"There's no Tarzino in the BMW," Cummings said. "The BMW is as good an option as the Derby, but running in it would not necessarily rule the Derby out."
