Outstanding New Zealand-bred sprinter Aerovelocity has been denied the opportunity to defend his title in the Gr.1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen at Chukyo in Japan.
A bout of colic has forced the Pins seven-year-old, a multiple international Group One winner, out of Sunday's race.
"Aerovelocity had got to the point where we needed to treat him or things could have got very serious," trainer Paul O'Sullivan said. "It was an easy decision to make."
