Multiple Group One winner Julinsky Prince will round off his current preparation at home.
Trainer Fraser Auret and breeder-owner John Bromley had been keen to venture to Australia with the six-year-old, but a lack of suitable races has resulted in a rethink.
"We've scoured the calendars and most of the races are handicaps, which clearly won't suit him," Auret said.
"There are a couple of Group Ones, such as the Doncaster, but that's not what we're after.
"Ideally, we wanted Group Two or Three races at weight-for-age over a mile, but unfortunately there's not a lot there."
Auret said Plan B with Julinsky Prince is a pair of domestic targets to round off a lucrative campaign that has netted Group One victories in the Windsor Park Plate and the Captain Cook Stakes.
"We're going to head to Tauranga on Saturday for the Japan/New Zealand Trophy and then the Easter, which will be run at set weights and penalties.
"That's obviously not as good as weight-for-age for us, but it's not as bad as a handicap."
Julinsky Prince beat Kawi in last season's Japan/NZ Trophy before he was unplaced in the Easter from an outside gate.
Most recently he was a bold second to Volkstok'n'barrell in the Gr.1 Haunui Farm WFA Classic.
"He came off a five week break at Otaki and he was as brave as can be," Auret said. "He's always showed he's best with his races nicely spaced." – NZ Racing Desk.
