A well-travelled six-year-old will be back in familiar territory on Saturday.

Batman now calls Riccarton home and his form since joining Neill Ridley's stable has earned him a trip north to Trentham for the Direct Fish & Oysters Premier.

The gelding has a win and four placings in six starts from his new quarters while his stablemate Mulberry is also in good form for the Fasttrack Insurance Premier after consecutive seconds at Riccarton and Wingatui.

"He puts in every start and this has been the plan for a month or two and the other one is going up as a travelling companion," Ridley said. "They will be both on their way home on Sunday."

As a three-year-old, Batman made an encouraging start to his career for his Waverley trainer Sam Lennox, who still retains an interest in the Falkirk gelding, and ran second in the Listed Wanganui Guineas at his third appearance.

A maiden win followed before he finished third in the Gr.2 Wellington Guineas and a respectable sixth in the Gr.1 Levin Classic.

Batman also picked up five cheques from as many starts in a Victorian campaign, but injuries have subsequently hindered his progress.

Meanwhile, Ridley also has business to attend to at the South Canterbury meeting on Friday with another former North Islander in Nine Pins to contest the Equine Veterinary Services Handicap.

The seven-year-old was a dominant winner in Rating 75 company on good ground at Ashburton last time out and he is hoping for improvement in the track at the Phar Lap Raceway.

"He would need it to dry out a bit, I wouldn't want it any worse than a Dead 4," Ridley said. – NZ Racing Desk.
