The ligament injury that counted Vavasour out of the Gr.1 Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup has now ended her career.
"It's pretty devastating, we had dreams of running in the cup and then on to Sydney," part-owner Sarah Green said.
"She injured herself in the Herbie Dyke. We did everything that we could, but retirement is the best option for her. She's done us proud and now we have to do the right thing by her."
Trained by Peter and Dawn Williams and Paul Richards, Vavasour won five of her 17 starts including the Gr.2 Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic, the Gr.3 Counties Cup and the Gr.3 Waikato Cup.
