Lance O'Sullivan and Andrew Scott will face three charges of presenting horses to race with high cobalt readings.
The decision to charge the Matamata trainers follows a lengthy investigation by the Racing Integrity Unit.
The cobalt threshold is 200 micrograms per litre of urine and three runners from the O'Sullivan and Scott stable returned readings significantly above that – namely Quintastics 640, Sound Proposition 541 and Suffire 309.
Quintastics was tested after winning on her home track last March, Sound Proposition was tested after he ran third in last year's Gr.1 New Zealand Derby and Suffire following her win at Tauranga in February, 2015.
As opposed to the recent Australian cases where trainers were charged with administering cobalt, O'Sullivan and Scott were charged with presenting the horses with the prohibited substance in their systems.
The Judicial Control Authority has yet to announce a date for the hearing. – NZ Racing Desk.
