Trainer Steven Burridge made his way to Kranji's Friday night meeting for only one race and could not have hoped for a better result after he went home straight afterwards with a winner.
The Australian trainer had just two runners at the nine-race programme, last-start winner Baab Al Nasr and one-time Kranji winner Lim's Affection (NZ), both entered in the $80,000 Kranji Stakes C race over 1600m, and it was the latter, a four-year-old mare by Elusive City who came up trumps.
Lim's Affection, who was known as Karalli for trainer Kevin Myers in New Zealand, finished the best to win by three-quarters of a length.
The winning time was 1min 36.6secs for the 1600m on the Short Course.
Burridge said after the race that Lim's Affection was no world beater but she should win her fair share of races if she kept going in the right direction.
"She's done a good job considering she bled last year (June). She should have won that day," said Burridge.
"She kept working home very well and the longer the better for her. She's no world beater but she came from New Zealand with a good record of one win and now she's won two here, which is not bad for a mare.
