Multiple New Zealand Group One winner Puccini makes a fresh start at Flemington on Saturday.
Raced by his Cambridge breeders Paul and Cushla Smithies, the five-year-old will be ridden by Mark Zahra in the Ascot Racecourse Trophy over 1400 metres.
Puccini won the New Zealand Derby and the Thorndon Mile before he joined Darren Weir's stable last spring. He ran second in the Gr.3 Eclipse Stakes for the leading Victorian trainer and was spelled after an unplaced run in the Gr.2 Villiers Stakes in December.
