Lucrative incentives for owners and trainers has seen the Poverty Bay Turf Club rewarded with full fields for its annual meeting on Sunday.

The Gisborne-based club has attracted 109 runners this year, a massive increase from the 53 horses that greeted the starter last year.

Incentives included travel subsidies of $500 for horses trained north of Gisborne and $400 for those from the south; the $161 jockeys' fee is paid for by the club for all starters; trainers receive a $250 gift card for every starter; and using a points based system, the trainer accumulating the most points on the day will take home a $10,000 prize.
