The pressure will be on the Gr.1 BMW New Zealand Derby aspirants Dragon Dancer and Splendido on Saturday.
The Bruce Wallace pair will need bold showings to improve their respective standings of 17 and 21 in the order of entry to next month's classic.
"They both need to step up to secure a spot," stable foreman Allan Peard said.
Dragon Dancer will contest the Gr.2 Auckland Eye Avondale Guineas, in which Splendido is on the ballot, although he is guaranteed a start in the Rutherford Rede 2100.
