Donna Logan's main focus is on reaping the future benefits of Hasselhoof's current Sydney campaign.

The Ruakaka trainer wasn't downhearted by the boom galloper's first-up defeat in Australia and said the trip would stand the Tavistock gelding in good stead for a return in the spring.

"I couldn't be happier with him – he's settled in really well and adjusting to the lifestyle here.

"He's eating everything put in front of him and it's all a practice run for later on."

Unbeaten in six New Zealand outings including the Gr.2 Rich Hill Mile, Hasselhoof lost his unbeaten record when fourth in an open handicap on a rain-affected track at Randwick earlier this month.

He will make his follow up appearance on Saturday in the Listed Parramatta Cup at Rosehill in the hands of regular rider Matt Cameron.

"It was five weeks between runs and he's a lot more forward now," Logan said. "His work this week and last Saturday has been very good.

"There's a 30 to 40 percent chance of showers in Sydney, but Rosehill will suit him better and even rain on the day would at least make it looser ground which he can handle.

"We were very keen to bring him over here to see how he travelled and adjusted and he's ticked all those boxes for the future.

"Anything now is a bonus, this is very much a practice run for later in the year." - NZ Racing Desk.
