The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained duo of Mime and Coldplay are on target for a tilt at the Gr.1 Wellfield New Zealand Oaks on March 19, however they are likely to take alternate paths to the fillies' feature.

Mime upstaged her more fancied stablemate when winning the Gr.2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic at Te Rapa on Saturday, with Coldplay (4th) hindered by an over-watered track.

"Mime obviously covered a fair bit of extra ground, but was possibly in the right strip of ground," Andrew Forsman said.

"It was one of those tracks where some were going to handle it and some weren't, but she definitely did.

"Going in, I thought Coldplay might have had the edge because of the better barrier, but as it worked out drawing inside wasn't really the place to be.

"Initially I was a bit disappointed with Coldplay, but on reflection and having gone out and walked the track and the strip of ground she was racing on, you could probably be a bit forgiving. The ground (where she raced) had become a bit false."

Mime is likely to head to Hastings for the Gr.3 Little Avondale Lowland Stakes on March 2, while Coldplay will be in search of a good track at Ellerslie on March 5 for the Gr.3 McKee Family Sunline Vase.
