Xtravagant's camp are upbeat about the three-year-old's chances at Te Rapa on Saturday.
A beaten favourite when fourth in the Gr.1 Levin Classic, he will take on the older horses in the Gr.1 NRM Sprint with a top performance to book his passage across the Tasman.
"He came through his last run super and obviously he was tripped up by a wet track and racing off the rail," co-trainer Jamie Richards said.
"He's a strong colt and they'll know he's there on Saturday."
