The connections of the promising staying prospect Liapari are mulling over the three-year-old's immediate future.
He holds a nomination for the Gr.1 BMW New Zealand Derby while targets closer to home are also in the running.
"I've left it up to the owner, the next payment for the Derby is on Tuesday," trainer Karen Zimmerman said.
"We'll either go down that path and give him a run in the Avondale Guineas to see how he goes that way around or change plan and go to the St Leger Trial and then for the St Leger.
"He's a lovely horse, but he's still quite babyish."
A son of Nom du Jeu raced by his breeder Jim Quin, Liapari has won one of his seven starts and three runs back he finished within three lengths of the top colt Xtravagant when placed in the Wellington Guineas Trial.
He has since run a respectable seventh in the Gr.1 Levin Classic and on Wednesday he finished third under topweight of 60kg against the older horses at Hastings in his middle distance debut.
"It was a super run and he got pushed out three wide – he's not strong enough yet to hold his line," Zimmerman said. "When he did get to the front he tried to pull himself up.
"He came home and licked his bowl clean. He's got a great constitution and he's going to be a lovely cups' horse as a four and five-year-old." – NZ Racing Desk.
