Lance Noble is preparing for an early start with his new employers.
The Matamata horseman will begin his tenure as private trainer for Brendan and Jo Lindsay at their state of the art operation at Karaka at the end of March, but he could have a runner or two for them in the weeks ahead.
Noble produced So Choosy and Buy Me A Rock for the Auckland-based couple at Tuesday's Avondale trials with both three-year-olds possible representatives for the trio in the near future.
"They were sent down to me just before Christmas and they are ready to go on with it," Noble said. "They are lovely, well-bred fillies and they may have a run before I make the move from Matamata."
By Redoute's Choice out of a half-sister to the former champion juvenile and sire Keeninsky, So Choosy was bred by the Lindsays and won her 1000 metre heat.
"She's got a lot of ability and Leith (Innes) has had a high opinion of her for some time, she was quite impressive," Noble said.
Although So Choosy was ridden by Danielle Johnson, Innes is the Lindsay's contracted jockey and he was aboard the filly in two earlier trials.
Buy Me A Rock is by Fastnet Rock out of a sister to the champion sire High Chaparral and she finished runner-up in her 1000 metre heat.
"She had one start at two and has needed that bit of time since to mature," Noble said. "I'm more than happy with her as well."
Noble confirmed that the remaining horses in his Matamata yard will be dispersed among other trainers before his shift to Karaka. – NZ Racing Desk.
