Promising three-year-old Mackintosh has been sold offshore, but he will retain his strong Kiwi connections.
The son of Pins has won two of his three starts for Byerley Park trainer James Bridge, who raced the gelding with his father John.
His form has resulted in high-profile New Zealanders Tony Muollo, who is based in Sydney, and Wellingtonian Lib Petagna purchasing Mackintosh.
"He won't run again here, but I will be taking him to Sydney and will be training him until the end of the autumn," Bridge said.
"He might have a tilt at the Randwick Guineas and then definitely the Rosehill Guineas and that will decide whether we stick to 2000 metres or go to the mile and a half in the Australian Derby."
An $11,000 weanling buy out of Waikato Stud's draft at Karaka in 2013, Mackintosh was a debut winner at Te Rapa in November and doubled his tally last time out at Ellerslie where he beat the subsequent Listed Karaka 3YO Mile winner Raghu.
In between times, Mackintosh ran fourth at Awapuni behind the Group performer Scrutinize.
"He's a big, lanky horse who thrives on a break between his runs," Bridge said. "He's very clean-winded and runs his best races on the fresh side.
"It's going to be exciting to take him to Sydney – he's a really progressive horse and they don't come around too often."
Bridge was also active Karaka in the past week with a Guillotine colt among his purchases.
"He's one we hope to be aiming at the Karaka Million and we'll be looking to syndicate him – he's a ripper of a colt," he said.
The half-brother to the Gr.3 Taranaki 2YO Classic winner Magic Belle was purchased out of Monovale Farm's Select Sale line-up for $50,000. – NZ Racing Desk.
